Background
The Women in Engineering Leadership Enhancement, Application and Design Academies have been created to provide students with the opportunity to spend a day learning and applying principles related to a particular engineering discipline offered at the University of Maryland.
Criteria
Each academy will have a slightly different criteria that will be outlined at the time of application. Students are expected to have a strong academic background and an interest in learning about engineering.
Applications for July 2012 are now being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis!
This program is open to young women and men in high school.

Programs will begin at 9:00am and conclude at 4:00pm unless otherwise specified in student acceptance materials. Students will be given all required materials and lunch.
Each academy is $50.
- Online Application Form and Essay
Essay should address your interest in attending and applicable experiences, extra-curricular activities and strengths.
**It is important to check for spelling and grammatical errors. Hint: Type your essay response in a word processing program first, review it for errors and then copy it into the text box on the application.** - Teacher Recommendation - Please ask your math/science teacher to write a recommendation on school letterhead describing your interests and capabilities. Recommendations should be mailed in a signature-sealed envelope.
