KEYs to Empowering Youth is a science and technology mentoring
program for 11-13 year
old girls designed to provide them with the opportunity to meet and work with women
studying and working in science and engineering. The KEYs program provides interactive,
hands-on activities that stress the importance of engineering, science and technology and
their impact on society.
In the KEYs program, female scientists and engineers will lead you through interactive presentations and exciting workshops. You will engage in fun, hands-on activities that will make you look at math, science and engineering in a new light!
- Welcome and Icebreaker
- Engineering Speaker
- Lunch
- Groups rotate through hands on science and engineering activities (samples below)
- a. Hypercoasters
b. Chemical Reactions
c. Circuits
d. Frictional Forces
- Closing Ceremony
Includes an interactive review of the day's activities and recognition for participation
(Parents are strongly urged to attend this session).

Cost
There is a $20 registration fee which includes the cost of lunch and activity supplies. Please do not include the registration fee at the time
of application.

Registration Deadline:
Complete and return the registration form by Friday, October 16, 2009.
Registration for KEYs is on a first come, first serve basis. Space in the program is limited. Returning KEYs participants are welcome to apply but preference is given to students who have not participated in the KEYs program before. Please send in your completed registration form as soon as possible to secure a spot in the program.
Upon confirmation for the program, please complete the permission form and mail it in with the registration fee.
