National Society of Professional Engineers Scholarships for High School Seniors

The Maureen L. & Howard N. Blitman, P.E. Scholarship to Promote Diversity in Engineering

This scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior (male or female), from an ethnic minority, who has been accepted into an ABET-accredited engineering program at a four-year college or university. The award, $5000 for the freshman year, has been endowed by Mr. and Mrs. Blitman, to encourage students from ethnic minorities that are underrepresented in the field of engineering, to pursue this challenging and rewarding career.

Auxiliary Legacy Scholarship ($2,000)

(Female, $1,000 a year for two years)
The recipient of this scholarship may attend the college or university of her choice. The program must be accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The scholarship is awarded strictly on the basis of achievement. A scholarship renewal report will be required for subsequent payments.

Next Generation Scholarship Fund
Application Available: December, 2010
Amount: $5,000

The Next Generation Scholarship Fund is a joint effort by JETS and Power Engineering Magazine to increase student interest in the electric power industry by awarding $5,000 scholarships for students to pursue a college engineering education.

The scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students planning to pursue an engineering career in a field related to electric power generation (for example, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or materials engineering).

Gates Millenium Scholars
Anticipated Deadline: January 2011

The GMS program offers leadership development programs with distinctive personal, academic and professional growth opportunities including mentoring services and an online resource center that provides up-to-date information on internship, fellowship and scholarship opportunities, as well as graduate and post-graduate resources and conferences. Individuals are eligible to be nominated as a Gates Millennium Scholar if they:

- are African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American
- are citizens or legal permanent residents or nationals of the United States
- have a cummulative GPA of 3.3/4.0 or better or have earned a GED
- will enter for the first time as an accredited university as a full-time, degree seeking freshman in the Fall of 2011
- have significant financial need (meet Federal Pell Grant Eligibility)
- have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities
- have completed and submitted all three required forms by the deadline

Gillette/National Urban League Scholarship and Intern Program for Minority Students
Deadline: January 15, 2011
Amount: $5,000

Applicants must be pursuing full-time studies leading to a bachelors degree at an accredited institution.  Applicants must be a junior/third year student at the time of the award and rank within the top 25% of their class.  Included majors: Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Finance, Human Resources Management or Business Administration.  Winners must be willing to accept a paid summer internship with Gillette Company.

AXA Achievement Scholarship Program
Deadline: February 2011
Amount: $2,000 to $25,000

AXA Achievement is a multi-faceted scholarship program, awarding more than $1.3 million a year in scholarships on the national and local levels. The AXA Achievement Scholarship selects 52 winners from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico who receive $10,000 each. From the state winners, 10 are selected to earn an additional $15,000 for winning the National Scholarship. National winners also receive an internship with AXA.

Winners will have the following qualities:
- Ambition and drive
- Determination to set and reach goals
- Respect for self, family and community
- Ability to succeed in college

THe AXA Community Scholarship Program awards twelve $2,000 scholarships to local residents across the country.
