Roop served as president of the Maryland College Personnel Association (MCPA) for 2005-06, and is currently on the governing board for ACPA: College Student Educators International as a member-at-large.

This award recognized Roop for her more than 10 years of professional service to both associations. She has also served these associations on conference and convention committees, and is a member of the directorate for ACPA's commission on academic support.
