Graduate students in the Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE) group have gained official status as a student organization, and are now a part of the University of Maryland's Student Activities Reporting System.

The group, which was started in the fall of 2006, is dedicated to fostering a sense of community among graduate female students in the ECE department through opportunities, resources, services, and events of interest to current students. This group also works to mentor the undergraduate women of the department.

The Undergraduate Women of ECE are also an active group, and plan to seek formal recognition as a campus group in the near future.

In accordance with their new, formalized Constitution, the following officers of the Graduate Women in ECE have been named:

President: Mahsa Dornajafi

Vice President: Filiz Yesilkoy

Treasurer/Secretary: Masoumeh Haghpanahi

The at-large members of the WECE executive committee are Jui-Ping Chiang, Jean-Marie Lauenstein, and Harita Tenneti.

The faculty advisors for the Graduate Women in ECE group are Prof. Kris Rosfjord and Prof. Min Wu.
