Liu, Alumna Co-Author Book

Electrical and computer engineering Prof. K.J. Ray Liu and one of his former students, W. Pam Siriwongpairat, have co-authored a book titled Ultra-Wideband Communications Systems: Multiband OFDM Approach.

Ultra-Wideband Multiband OFDM Communications Systems provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamental issues related to designing, implementing, and deploying UWB multiband OFDM systems. The book covers the key physical layer aspects of UWB technology, including spectrum and regulations, UWB channels, modulation techniques, and transceiver architectures, with particular focus on the multiband OFDM approach. In addition, the authors further examine the major advanced state-of-the-art technology to enhance the performance of the standardized multiband OFDM technology.

Siriwongpairat received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1999, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2001 and 2005, respectively. She is currently a wireless communications specialist with Meteor Communications Corporation, working in the research and development of wireless communications technology. From January 2005 to May 2005, she was a postdoctoral research associate with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Institute for Systems Research at University of Maryland, College Park. Her research interests span a broad range of areas from signal processing to wireless communications and networking, including space-time coding for multi-antenna communications, cross-layer design for wireless networks, communications in mobile ad hoc networks and wireless sensor networks, OFDM systems, and ultrawideband communications.
