The Women in Engineering (WIE) Program at the University of Maryland is excited to host its 7th annual WIE DREAM Conference! Our mission is to recruit, retain and advance women in engineering and this conference provides a forum to reach out to students and share the wonderful innovations, applications and opportunities engineering has to offer.

This spring, 500 participants will be welcomed to the University of Maryland campus for a series of workshops, forums, demonstrations and discussions that will truly ignite interest in engineering.

Special Note: WIE DREAM Conference participants who apply and are accepted to the University of Maryland's A. James Clark School of Engineering are eligible to apply for a DREAM Scholarship valued at up to $2,500!

FAQ's

What does DREAM stand for?
Developing Revolutionary Engineers And Mentors

Who can attend?WIE Dream Conference Audience
Our target audience is current high school sophomores and juniors, though we welcome all high school students. Community college students hoping to transfer into the Clark School may find the conference of interest. We also anticipate that some teachers and parents will attend.

What will happen at the conference?
Participants will have the opportunity to choose from different sessions throughout the day much like a professional conference. Professional engineers, university faculty and staff and current engineering students will lead the highly interactive sessions and demonstrations. Lunch will be provided free of charge. View a sample schedule here [pdf].

How much does the conference cost?
Due to generous donations from our sponsors and members of the community, we are waiving the conference registration fee for all participants!

Other Engineering Programs

The Clark School and WIE offer many programs throughout the year and during the summer to introduce students to the many fields of engineering. The WIE K-12 Outreach and the Clark School's Prospective Students webpages have information for interested students.
