WIE are Makers

Come experience Maryland Engineering through hands-on making with WIE are Makers! This afternoon workshop for grades 7th-12th is designed for girls, though open to all gender identities.

Engineering meets art in this workshop that introduces participants to electronics through an illuminated mask project. Participants will explore parallel circuits in this "make and take" sewable electronics project, guided by current Maryland Engineering students.

This workshop is being offered twice this spring. Please register for only one of the two sessions. Space is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Time:  1:00-3:00 PM

Location: University of Maryland College Park campus

Cost: $25 per person *

WIE Change the World! An Introduction to Maryland Engineering

The WIE Change the World summer program is designed for rising 11th and 12th grade high school women, but open to all gender identities, who are considering majoring in engineering.  This week-long, residential program introduces participants to campus life and the various engineering departments and majors at the University of Maryland through engaging lectures, hands-on activities, team challenges, and conversations with faculty, staff, and students in the Clark School of Engineering.  

WIE Change the World! An Introduction to Maryland Engineering

WIE Aspire! Explore Engineering

The WIE Aspire summer program is designed for rising 9th and 10th grade high school women, but open to all gender identities, who are interested in exploring engineering.  This week-long, commuter program introduces participants to the field of engineering through hands-on projects, engineering lab and facilities tours, and conversations with faculty, staff, and students in the Clark School of Engineering.

WIE emPower!

The WIE emPower summer program is designed for rising 7th and 8th grade girls, though open to all gender identities, who are interested in exploring engineering through hands-on making. During this week-long, commuter summer program, participants will learn how to use power tools and engineering concepts as they are introduced to the field of engineering through engaging projects.

WIE RISE! A Summer Research Program (Virtual)

The WIE RISE virtual summer program, designed for women high school students (rising 9th - 12th grade) but open to all gender identities, provides an introduction to engineering through the field of research. Students will explore different engineering disciplines each day of the week as they learn about various engineering research labs at the University of Maryland as well as engage in at-home friendly experiments.
